Duncan: “Not the dollar store!”

We needed to kill 10 minutes tonight, so we were going to duck into the dollar store. “But I don’t want to go to the dollar store!” shouted Duncan. We were puzzled. We thought a store with lots of cheap toys would be right up his alley. “I don’t want to go to the dollar store!” he insisted. Suddenly, the light bulb lit for us. Dollar=doler=girl in Duncan-speak. He was telling us he didn’t want to go to the girl store.

Although he adores his sisters, recently he has been wanting to put a “no girls allowed” sign on his door. Where do little boys get these ideas?
